Elemental Veterinary Center and Pet Spa

Located in Columbus' Short North, Elemental Veterinary Center is a new home base for a veterinarian nationally recognized for her traditional and alternative pet therapy, including acupuncture.  Probing into the issue of “alternative,” the client wanted something that did not feel like a traditional, sterile, vet clinic, but rather could operate as a gallery space simultaneously.

We developed tenant fit-out for the set of interrelated uses for the Center, maximizing lobby space to create a “Elemental Table” of dog, cat, horse, and rabbit noses, recognizing that the elemental sense of smell was a primary means of identification and communication in the animal world.

The custom panels were laser cut from 1/8" birch and allowed to fold around vertical and diagonal corners with a finger joint.  The animal noses make a perforated fritting that sits off the lobby wall and backlights at night.
